DIY Paper Mache Bowl- EASY!

Image
I love the look of paper mache bowls, however, they can be a bit pricey. When I first started looking for ways to make my own, I found a lot of very long, very extensive, and very messy ways to make them that seemed a little daunting. I knew I didn't want to make a flour paste- too messy. I also knew I didn't want to use my blender- again the mess.  So here is the easiest paper mache bowl! You can also find a full video tutorial on my YouTube channel here:  https://youtu.be/hA7QBikRCO0 Start with some shredded paper. I used some paper straight out of my paper shredder, but if you don't have a paper shredder, you can just tear up some paper into tiny pieces. Don't worry about the color of the paper either! We're gonna paint our bowl at the end! Then I poured hot water over my paper. Make sure that you cover your paper completely then use you hand or a spoon to make sure all the little pieces are submerged into the water. Let this sit for a few hours. I left mine for

Faux Rice Paper Flowers

Image
These beautiful flowers are made from Faux Rice paper, a simple combination of napkins, mod podge, and some patients for dry time.  In this blog, I’ll show you how to make the faux rice paper and turn it into these flowers! Let’s start with how to make faux rice paper. You’ll need napkins and mod podge. Any napkins of your choice will work and I’ve used pretty floral napkins before too! For this project, I’m using the white backing of a napkin. Make sure you pull your napkin apart! Some are 2 ply and some are 3 so you’ll want to make sure, you’re just using one of the pieces. You’ll need to lay down a piece of plastic. Any plastic will work, but it has to be plastic or your napkin won’t lift up once it’s dry. I’m using a gallon size zip lock bag that I cut open, laid out, then taped down with some painters tape. You’ll want to tape it down so it doesn’t move around. Once you have your plastic laid and taped down, spread a layer of mod podge on the plastic in an area a little bigger t

3D Vintage Butterfly Art

Image
This sweet 3D butterfly art is simple to do, but will leave a lasting impression on your home decor! You can also find the video tutorial here on my YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/@AngelNichole I grabbed this oval frame from the thrift store, though you could do this project with any frame you may already have. I got lucky to find this one because oval frames are scarce in my thrift stores. my luck continued as I took this frame apart because it turned out that it already had a wood backing. If your frame doesn’t have a wood backing, that’s ok. You can make one with thin wood or pressed cardboard. You could also use the glass in the frame as the backing (you may just have to add a few more coats of paint to cover the glass in the next step.) I put my frame back together with the wood backing and painted the entire thing with a couple coats of Waverly Chalk paint in the color “Plaster”. I think any spring color will look amazing for this project. Now for the 3D part! I have this

Vintage Jumbo Clothespin Photo Holders

Image
I love all things vintage and antique, but you don’t have to pay “vintage/antique” prices to get the look. If you'd like to watch the full tutorial instead of reading about it, you can find me on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/B6GjD_wWwCc         You won't need a ton of materials for this project and most of the things I used are from the Dollar Store. These particular Pins came from Dollar General in the clearance section for less than a dollar each. You can find Jumbo clothespins at most craft stores though. I started by taking my clothespins apart and laying them out. I wet my paint brush then used some brown acrylic paint that I had mixed up to "stain" my clothespins. I just kept my paintbrush wet as I continued to brush on the paint. Once I had the paint brushed on, I let it sit for a minute then wiped off the excess watery paint with a paper towel. I like to stain using this method since I'm not a fan of the smell of actual stain. I also like that you can
